Dear Parents,

Welcome to the "Kids CAN" Create & Write Songs Camp! We're thrilled to have your child join our exciting online program where they'll unleash their musical creativity and become aspiring songwriters! This document outlines what you and your child can expect from this fun and interactive 3-week journey into the world of songwriting.

What Your Child Will Explore:

• The Art of Songwriting: From brainstorming ideas to crafting melodies and lyrics, your child will discover the fundamentals of songwriting.
• Musical Expression: They'll learn the basics of music theory to create catchy melodies and explore techniques for writing impactful lyrics that tell a story or express an emotion.
• Building Confidence: We'll provide a supportive environment where your child can gain the confidence to share their original songs (optional: performing or creating a music video).

Camp Structure:

• Duration: 3 weeks
• Session Frequency: 1-3 hours per week
• Learning Mode: Online asynchronous, occasional office hours via Zoom, assistance in song sharing, and personalized feedback via the comment section.

What Your Child Will Create:

By the end of the camp, your child will have a complete original song they can be proud of! (Optional: They can even learn basic music production techniques to add backing tracks that enhance their song(s) and even share their song(s) with our community!)

Supporting Your Child's Creativity:

• Encourage participation: Help your child explore different music genres and artists they enjoy.
• Provide a creative space: Offer them a quiet space to brainstorm ideas and practice their songs.
• Celebrate their progress: Show enthusiasm for their work and offer positive feedback.

Please provide your child with a physical notebook to use throughout the program if they'd like to take notes, make drawings, or answer the free-response in their notebooks instead of online. Black or ruled paper works fine, whichever your child prefers. Thank you!
